Dalla Green
Dallas Green (born September 29, 1980 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is one of the guitarists and vocalists in the Canadian post-hardcore band Alexisonfire. He is highly praised by critics for his piercing vocals and melodic voice, present in nearly all of Alexisonfire’s songs. One of his most striking features, besides his voice, is the number of tattoos that adorn his body. He has full arm sleeves as well as tattoos on his torso and back. In addition to his work with Alexisonfire, Green also has a solo project named City and Colour, which revolves around songs of an acoustic variety. The name, City and Colour, comes about from his own name: Dallas, which is a city, and Green, which is a colour. He began City and Colour underground, releasing songs on the internet for fans to download. Eventually, he compiled and rewrote several of these songs to make the CD Sometimes. This full length debut CD was released on November 1, 2005.
Dallas Green also appears on Neverending White Lights’ collaborative album Act 1: Goodbye Friends of the Heavenly Bodies (which was released in 2005), contributing vocals to the song “The Grace”. His first solo music video, “Save Your Scissors”, off the now gold-rated album Sometimes, was released on January 17, 2006, featuring some of his best friends, and favourite places in his hometown, St. Catharines, Ontario. His second solo video, “Comin’ Home”, went number one on Much More Music’s video countdown. Dallas can be seen sporting a Finish Strong shirt on the cover of this month’s Chart Magazine, Artist of the Year edition, or on his 2006 MMVA performance. Finish Strong is described as a brotherhood, a family of people dedicated to spreading a ‘positive message out to those that choose to listen.’ While Dallas is a member and proponent of the organization and what the message encompasses, he did not found it with Matthew Scapillati, despite the many rumors.
